Increasing recognition of the role that community health workers (CHWs) play in health service delivery has spurred the implementation of numerous CHW programs around the world.
On the 26 June, 2014 the UK Guardian newspaper held an online Live Question and Answer Session on health systems.
With some favelas nudging near to Rio’s famous beaches, the stark inequality of the two incongruous scenes came as no surprise to us South Africans. What did surprise us, however, was the quality of health care provided to the residents of this area.
What explains whether and how policies are put into effect in local health systems? Whether the resources they bring are used to improve health and systems or to serve the self-interest of entrenched groups?
Like so many before us, Health Systems Global is venturing into the realm of blogs! We don’t quite know what to expect. Who will be eager to share blog posts? About what? Who will comment? Which issues will generate the most debate and discussion?
