Moving forward: HSG unveils its 2016 – 2020 Strategic Plan

We are pleased to share with you the new Health Systems Global Strategic Plan 2016-2020. This plan was built upon extensive consultation – with HSG thematic working groups, and multiple members who participated in both face-to-face and online consultations. We hope (and believe) that it reflects the diverse interests of our members and the membership-driven nature of HSG.

The purpose of this strategic plan is to guide Health Systems Global (HSG) through a phase of consolidation and intensification of activities, following the successful incipient period (2012–2015) when HSG was established and forged its identity. The plan is intended to guide the organization’s decision-making in the following areas:

  • Identify priorities and guide decision-making of the board and secretariat
  • Steer/inform the work of the engine of our society – Thematic Working Groups
  • Provide the basis for detailed implementation planning and scaling up HSG’s activities
  • Provide the basis for determining resource requirements.

The period 2016–2020 is expected to provide new opportunities for HSG, such as expanding membership into underrepresented regions and communities; building new partnerships with stronger, broader and deeper linkages with diverse communities and securing their greater engagement during and in-between Global symposia; building durable financial and organizational foundations for the society and effectively advocating for the field of HPSR. We look forward to working together with our members and partners to implement this strategy.

To hear more about the new strategy, join us at the HSG AGM, which will be taking place at the Fourth Global Symposium on Health Systems Research in Vancouver on Thursday, November 17th from 12:45 – 14:00 in Ballroom C. You can also pick up a hard copy at the HSG marketplace booth.
