Last year, members from the Board’s Capacity Strengthening Working Group published a research paper (opens in a new window) presenting a conceptual framework that called for greater efforts to improve collective, organizational and network level capacity, in addition to individual-level capacity to build the field of HPSR.

We believe this commitment should start in-house by regularly reviewing and assessing the skills and competencies needed to effectively manage and run a global membership Society.

As a Society that promotes and supports continuous learning, the Governance Committee of the Board carried out an analysis to identify opportunities to further supplement our collective capacity. This analysis found that our Board Members are interested in honing our core skills in the areas of strategic leadership, financial management, advocacy and fundraising as well as risk management.

We are delighted to be working with peer colleagues and experts from within the wider membership, over the next few months. The aim is to share our experiences as well as draw on the skills and experience from Board colleagues. We are grateful for their input and experience, that together will result in continued growth for HSG Board Members and the wider Society.
