Title of event
Exposure to corruption across sectors and the normalisation of bribe payments
Webinar theme overview
Exposure to Corruption Across Sectors and the Normalisation of Bribe Payments is a webinar jointly organised by the Thematic Working Group on Action on Accountability and Anti-corruption for SDGs (TWG AAA) and the Health Systems Global Latin America and Caribbean Network (HSG-LAC).
The event will present findings from Peru's XIII National Survey on Perceptions of Corruption (2025), examining whether exposure to corruption across multiple sectors is associated with greater acceptance and normalization of bribe payments.
The session seeks to contribute to current debates on corruption, integrity, and governance by exploring how cumulative exposure to corruption may shape social norms and public attitudes towards bribery. The findings offer insights into the broader relationship between corruption experiences, institutional effectiveness, accountability, and public trust.
By bringing together researchers, policymakers, practitioners, and civil society actors, the webinar aims to stimulate discussion on the implications of these findings for anti-corruption strategies, governance reforms, and efforts to strengthen public institutions and health systems in Latin America and beyond.
