About EV4GH

Emerging Voices for Global Health (EV4GH) is an training program for health researchers, that includes face-to-face and virtual training components. EV4GH aims to empower health systems researchers from the global South by providing them with presentation skills training, which facilitates their participation in Health Systems Global’s (HSG) bi-annual Symposium.

After initial success with a small cohort of researchers aspiring for local change and global impact, the EV4GH venture began to involve more institutions from across several low and middle income countries. It was initially developed by the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp in 2010.

Emerging voices (EV) has had over 260 participants representing close to 60 countries in Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, Latin, North, and Central America.

EV4GH has reconfigured itself with a globally representative elected governance board and a secretariat based at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC), Kenya.

Applications close: 20 March 2024 (23:59 Bangladesh standard time) (GMT +6)

EV2024 applicants can apply for two tracks:

Track 1
Researchers involved in health policy and systems research (researchers track), and

Track 2
Health professionals, activists, policymakers, knowledge brokers, health journalists, and other health system actors (other health system actors track).

Who can apply?

  • Applicants must be born on or after 1 January 1984
  • EV4GH is designed for young, promising, and emerging health policy and systems researchers, decision-makers, and other health system professionals interested in becoming influential global health voices or local change-makers, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMIC).

Join the Emerging Voices Thematic Working Group

In 2015, EV4GH was accepted as a Thematic Working Group of Health Systems Global. The key activities of the group include:

  • Organizing EV4GH events at global health conferences
  • Hosting webinars
  • Arranging young researcher workshops
  • Facilitating networking between different EV cohorts and regions
  • Google Group thematic discussions.
