APAC Region Pre-Conference Abstract Workshops and Meeting

HSG’s Asia Pacific (SouthEast Asia and Western Pacific) Regional Network is organizing a series of virtual Abstract Workshops that will culminate into a virtual Plenary Pre-Conference Meeting to explore the Symposium themes and support individual session submissions to the HSR2022 scientific program.

Ahead of the Seventh Global Symposium for Health Systems Research (HSR2022) in Bogota, Colombia, October 31 – November 4, 2022, HSG’s Asia Pacific (SouthEast Asia and Western Pacific) Regional Network is organizing a series of virtual Abstract Workshops that will culminate into a virtual Plenary Pre-Conference Meeting to explore the Symposium themes and support individual session submissions to the HSR2022 scientific program. The workshops aim to provide guidance and feedback on abstract writing and articulating its relevance to the symposium theme.

If you are based in the Asia Pacific region, engaged in health policy and systems research, policy and practice, you are invited to submit your draft abstract using the abstract submission form as part of your registration for each workshop slot. We encourage the participation of researchers and implementers from LMIC countries.

Please take note of submission cut-off dates. Slots for the workshops will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Workshops

Three abstract workshops will be held virtually on Zoom with representation in terms of expertise and networks across APAC countries, represented by institutions including  Mahidol University (Thailand), Brawijaya University (Indonesia), icddr,b (Bangladesh), Institute of Public Health (India), The George Institute for Global Health (India), Research for Impact (Singapore), Queensland University of Technology (Australia), Fiji National University (Fiji), Innovations for Community Health (Philippines), Department of Health (Philippines), University of the Philippines Manila, among others.

Each abstract workshop would include a 10–15-minute short presentation delivered by regional experts to provide a broad overview of abstract writing, communication, and the disciplinary/thematic considerations for submission per HSR 2022 guidelines. The short presentation will be followed by workshop style breakout rooms (30 – 45 mins) for interaction, feedback, and Q&A for ideating and/or refining prospective abstracts. In the breakout rooms, participants will have the opportunity to present their ideas and abstracts, interact, and receive detailed feedback from regional expertise and peers.

The series of workshops will culminate into a plenary pre-conference meeting on 31 March 2022. Selected participants from the abstract workshops will be requested to present their work to a wider audience, which will be followed by short discussions from panel members. The curation of work for this meeting will depend on the nature of submissions received during the three abstract workshops.
